The Housing Authority is located in the City of Van Buren, Arkansas. Van Buren Housing Authority or VBHA was organized on May 18, 1960, pursuant to the Housing Authority Act of Arkansas. The Van Buren Housing Authority further promotes resources for self-sustainability.
VBHA currently owns and manages 198 units of public housing in Van Buren, Arkansas. Van Buren Housing Authority also manages 40 units of public housing in Ozark, Arkansas.
Van Buren Housing Authority is Recognized as a High Performer
The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) developed a rating system to measure the performance of housing authorities across the country. Public Housing Assessment System (PHAS), measures financial condition, physical condition, management operations, and customer satisfaction in their determining awards. The Van Buren Housing Authority is consistently rated "High Performer", the highest designation awarded by HUD.
The Van Buren Housing Authority communities are conveniently located near Summit Medical Center, Van Buren Public Library, schools and shopping. Two head start facilities are in the complex and a Resident Center is equipped with computer lab available for use by residents.
